[ some time after the host reveals himself, explaining oh so eloquently the situation at hand, miki grabs inuyasha and they walk over to a quieter part of the crossing, where no one else is. ]

[He's more worried about being human than demonic. Because truthfully, Inuyasha is absolutely ready to slaughter everyone here save her. Whatever it takes to get back to the land of the living and reclaim the Jewel as his own.]

[ then again, her being a demon is now technically public knowledge. what a pain. she looks at the ground, thinking, then flicks her eyes back up. ]

I killed myself.

[His first thought, petty and nasty, is: pathetic.

It just seems so stupid, that's all. To a man (a boy, really) who has spent two hundred years fighting to try and stay alive, for someone to willingly kill themselves . . .

He doesn't seem all that horrified, though. Somber, but not shocked or upset.]

Why?

[ she closes her eyes, and smiles shakily. in truth she's just trying her hardest not to cry, and not to think about miki. she still has no idea what became of her friend, the person she loves most, and she doesn't think she'll get any answers soon. but that's also why she has to come back to life. ]

Because I was about to be killed anyway, and I didn't want to die screaming.

[ there was no way out of it for her. guns pointed right at her, stray bullets shooting even as she begged them to spare her friend. it was better to die on her own terms. ]

[He doesn't say anything for a long few seconds, simply staring at her. It's impossible to tell what he's thinking, but then, abruptly:]

All we gotta do is figure out who to kill here, whoever's in charge, and we'll be home free. That's how this shit works.

So just . . . stick close. All right?

[So that shit doesn't happen again.]

Alright.

[ she's more than fine moving on. she collects herself and smooths her face to passing disinterest as per usual. ]
