[reapsody] OOC: WEEK 4 INFO FROM CYOA

(OOC: This information can be assumed to be shared with any living player on Week 4 IC Date Thursday after Group Eel Dick came back from the secret library passage)

The below information was found by Miki Kuroda

Book: The Composer

The Composer is the leader of the Reapers and the ruler of the Underground. It falls upon the Composer's shoulders to create the rules for the Reapers' Game, and to judge the Players. The entire purpose of the Composer is to judge the worth of men. As the supreme commander of the Reaper's Game, the Composer generally has little direct contact with Reapers below the rank of Conductor. All their work is done through this second in command.

To make sure Composers stay on track with their purpose, as well as the continuing well-being of their respective Games, each one is assigned one of our own.

BOOK: The Conductor

The Conductor is the Composer's second in command. They carry out the Composer's missions, and deliver messages from the Composer to the Reapers. The Conductor serves as the Composer's representative, transmitting orders from the Composer to the Reapers. It falls to the Conductor to give those orders to the Reapers and ensure they are followed. Because of this relationship between both of them, the Conductor's position is one of the rare few where a natural promotion is preferable. Erasing a Conductor might guarantee someone their spot, but should the Composer find your candidacy inadequate, erasure will be immediate.

This does not mean a Composer's relationship with their Conductor is always positive, but their ability to work together is imperative for the success of a Game.

BOOK: Support

Support Reapers are valid too. The lowest ranking Reapers, their task is normally to create challenges within the Game as explicitly stated by the Game Master. Usually, this involves maintaining special walls, informing players of the requirements to destroy certain walls, and lowering the walls when the requirements are met. Like all Reapers, they have the power to create Noise, but usually only as part of the challenges required to remove walls. They are very unlikely to be seen by Players as more than a nuisance. Promotion for some of these Reapers may be difficult, as any winner of the Games may be offered a Reaper position, but not all will have the fortitude that the higher ranks require in their tasks.

BOOK: Harrier

Mid-ranking Reapers, Harriers are permitted to act freely (with certain constraints, depending on their superiors) in order to erase Players in the Game. Usually, the Game Master will specify when and where Harriers may act. Depending on the Composer's preference, Harriers may be relegated to only using Noise or traps in order to erase Players without directly interacting with them. A Player's fortitude at the time of a win may place them as Harrier immediately, depending on the Composer and/or Conductor's preference.

BOOK: Officer

They are recruited from exceptional Reapers. It is from this pool in which Game Masters are chosen. These Reapers are most likely to be next in line as Conductor or even Composer.

BOOK: Game Master

Often nicknamed "GMs", these Reapers are chosen to lead each weeks' game and basically control how the outcome of the game will be. These Reapers are the few who ever speak with the Conductor. They direct lower ranked Reapers in their tasks for the week.

NOTE: ???

(This note was found under a worn book in a secret passageway Miki unlocked. The worn book's title had an "O" at the start and ended in "CER." The ellipses represents illegible smudging and there is no signature at the bottom.)

"[...] unhappy with our decision, though we feel [...] we could make at this time. Perhaps [...] show us otherwise. It [...], I know, but we do truly hope you [...] around. We will test [...] and though it may seem unfair, believe us [...] all of this is necessary.

We hope this finds you and yours well.

Yours truly,"

BOOK: Shibuya

(The dashes represent water damage on the passage)

--- Game --- brought back from the brink by the actions of --- Composer's Proxy. ---- --------, chosen because he represented everything wrong with ------- according to --- --------, turned things around in a manner no one expected. Reports from our agent say that the -- is completely different now. Perhaps other Games will be so lucky. Reports of other Games being in similar ------ have been numerous as of late, but should things turn around, perhaps we won't have to...

BOOK: RG vs UG

(The dashes represent water damage on the passage)

The Underground, or UG, is a parallel plane of existence to worlds that only Reapers and Players of the Reapers' Game can see. It exists in the same space/time as the Realground (RG), but has a higher vibration frequency. Those in the RG cannot generally see, hear, or in any way perceive events and people in the UG, while those in the UG can perceive RG events freely (though physical interaction remains difficult). The Noise plane straddles both the UG and the RG. Certain people are able to see the UG or the Noise plane from the RG. The cause of this, of course, being ------- -----------.

The UG is the only place where Reapers and Players can use their powers and psychs. Certain designs, such as emblems, can connect the UG and RG, permitting Players to be seen by and interact with RG people and objects. The designs on a Reaper Creeper panel are an example of this, as are the emblems which permit Players to enter and use shops. The UG is highly tuned into the Noise Plane. The Composer is the only Reaper exception to the rule when it comes to being able to use powers outside of the UG. All UGs are separated and work by their own set of rules decided by their respective Composer.

BOOK: Tin Pin

[ Makoto's book on tin pin is oddly detailed about the rules, different types of pins, and something called a "whammy". The one thing of interest to her though would be a note written in the margin in scratchy handwriting: ]

"Shibuya's Composer spent a near week in a universe centered around this...? Really?"
