All right. What can I help you with?

Your profile said you're an artist. [ she bounces a little in place, her legs twitching in anxiety. ] Do you think you can draw me something? I'd pay you for it.

I am, but...

[He looks down at his sketchbook hopelessly.]

Nothing I've drawn since my arrival has been of any worth, and I'm bereft of inspiration, even when I try to force the matter as I am now. I'm sorry, but I cannot help you.

Inspiration? What the hell is there to be inspired by, it's just drawing.

[ says the jock whose never drawn outside of art class. ]

Drawing isn't the mere copying of an image from the mind to the page. That image must be given rise from somewhere, and how and in what form that image is influenced and takes shape, the ideas and emotions that inform it... that is what I would call "inspiration".

Put simply, I have no skill or ideas here. That is why I cannot help you.

[ she sighs, quiet and resigned. ]

That sucks. [ for her, and for him. ] The murdering shit isn't exactly very, um, inspiring I guess. Been feeling the same way about running myself, even when I'm good at it.

[curiously--] Ah, you like to run? Are you an athlete, or is it a hobby?

Athlete. I'm kind of a track superstar. [ or at least, she always wanted to be. ] Running is my passion, as art is yours. I ran miles every day across town to get faster, even had a collection on books about techniques to improve.

How wonderful. My friend Ryuji is also very passionate about running; I'm sure you would have gotten along.

[His expression falls, then.] ...But... though we shared the same fate, he was not admitted to the Game.
